Writing IEPs

As you work on your children’s IEPs, be sure that every goal is being effectively measured.  Ineffective measurement has a notable impact on whether or not progress is being objectively measured and documented.  Terms like “Observation” or “Tests and Quizzes” do not guarantee that the specific goal is being measured.  Measurement involves data, and that data should be provided to you in a way that you can come to the same conclusion as the school about your child’s progress.  Does your child’s IEP measure progress effectively?
